2007-08 PROGRAM ANNOUNCED - NOW BOOKING

I am now booking the 2007-08 season. The program will be dedicated to the music of the early twentieth-century American "ultra-modernists." I am very excited about this program as this music represents some of my absolute favorite works of all time. The program will feature the seven most important composers from that time: Charles Ives, Carl Ruggles, Henry Cowell, John J. Becker, Wallingford Riegger, George Antheil, and Conlon Nancarrow. These seven composers were the flag-bearers of “ultra-modernism” and the driving force behind forming America’s musical identity. During the recital, I will discuss these composers and their impact on our musical culture, and I will share representative pieces from each. The work I will play does not represent novelty music worthy of an occasional hearing; rather, it is music of such a high caliber that each piece deserves a permanent home in the standard repertoire and in the hands of all musicians. These recitals are formatted for open discussion and questions will be encouraged throughout.

For a complete recital proposal, please click here. If you are interested in booking the program or would like to learn more information, please send me an email.

Please note that this program is no longer available for booking. To view the current programs that are being booked by Mr. Kirchoff, please visit the projects page.

KIRCHOFF PLAYS LOMBARDI TO BE RELEASED ON CD

What timing! Not even a week has gone by since I got off the phone with Bridge records, and I've now received word of another recording of mine that is being prepared for commercial release. Last month, while I was in Albuquerque, NM, I recorded some of the piano works of composer Paul Lombardi. Today he sent me an email informing me that a local label, Albuzerxque, is preparing my recording of his Nocturne for an upcoming release. I don't know any other details yet, but keep checking back; I'll post updated details as soon as I know more.

ANNOUNCING FIRST COMMERCIAL RECORDING!

A deal has been set with myself and Bridge Records to release a recording featuring the piano works of Frederic Rzewski. The recording will contain the works that I have been touring with this season: The Turtle and the Crane, Snippets, Mayn Yingele, and De Profundis. For more information about this recording, please click here (pdf).

"But when," you may be asking, "is this disc to be released?"

ANNOUNCING A CALL FOR SCORES

I am currently accepting scores for solo piano pieces of any length (preferably 15 minutes max) written after 2000. The pieces may be as conventional or radical as the composer sees fit. I am looking to program more new works by composers who are yet unknown to a larger audience. While many composers may be known on a local level, my objective is to expose players and listeners to the work of these selected composers on a national level. My aim is to collect enough scores by January 2008 so that I may tour exclusively with this music during the 2008-09 season. I would like to focus on the works of my generation; anyone born in 1965 or later is welcome to submit scores. Please submit the scores with a bio or CV, sample recordings of your work (if available), and complete contact information. For my mailing address, visit my contact page. Feel free to email me with questions.
